Music has always been the family business. My mother, Nancy Jensen, has been teaching piano for over sixty years, and my sister Lori is a professional violinist and also a teacher. Growing up as a cellist in that environment, playing trios with my family and performing at weddings, gave me a musician’s ear long before I ever picked up a tuning hammer.
Before I moved into piano technology full-time, I spent 18 years in the automotive service industry. I worked my way up from a mechanic to a service advisor, which is where I really learned the value of clear communication and customer service. I believe that a piano technician should be as reliable as they are precise. Transitioning from automotive service to piano technology felt natural because the skills are surprisingly similar. Both require a deep understanding of complex machines, a diagnostic mindset, and a high level of precision.
Today, my work at Jensen Piano Tuning is where those two worlds meet. Whether I’m preparing a 9-foot Fazioli F278 Concert Grand, or tuning a beloved family upright in a living room, my goal is the same. I treat every instrument as if it were my own, taking the time to ensure the tuning is stable and the touch is responsive.
I’m proud to be a trusted technician for the San Jose Opera and many other Bay Area institutions, and I look forward to helping your piano sound its best.
